Why quit ? Those guys don't even have to show up for their massive responsibility of one weekend a month!!! In active duty , I miss formation and I can be declared AWOL!! The reserves can miss 6 months , a year of drill and they probably get an ARCOM!! And they wonder why the reserves and national guard perform so poorly in Iraq. Active Duty lives the life and trains to fight and save their buddies life while the guard and reserve train to play Halo real well. And for the record you cannot just quit on active duty. The only way to "quit" is if you are an officer and you can resign your commission and these days that is not as easy as it sounds.

No, in the reserves you sign a contract as do the active duty components.

Excuse me -- where in the world did you hear that? Like on Active Duty, the Reserves and the National Guard all have Service Commitments, and when you are in, you are in until the service commitment is finished.

You can wash out in boot camp---which is the exact hardazz boot camp they ALL go through---but the shame is tremendous, especially to your family. Don't join if you are a puzzy.
