That must be the most difficult question to answer. However, as of lately I am able to deal with difficult situations better than ever, as a result of a pair of adjustments I have made.
First of all, everything has a good side to it. Everything: My Dog dies killed by a truck, he died in a quick and painless manner; my girlfriend breaks up with me, I have time to do things like learning how to cook or learning a second lenguage.
Second, what are you passionate about? For me it is computers and though I still have much to learn, that is no disadvantage, on the contrary, there is still much to discover.
Third, physical pain and death mean little. Sure, mind, body and spirit are one and affect eachother, but knowing that I am free and could let myself die tomorrow if I wanted to (how dark), makes me feel that everything I have done since I was born has been an accomplishment in itself, since I came to the world with nothing and could leave it at any time I wanted (never mind for now what my Catholic beginnings dictate on that).
More than anything, it helps incredibly to believe something that I as a newbie programmer must believe: everything is possible. How easily we give up after only a few attemps of solving a problem. A mountain is an unsormountable obstacle for the one who has no faith, but a staircase to heaven for the one who believes. When you do not see the solution, maybe it is because you have to look at the problem a different way.
All right, thanks for reading such a long message.

Hi str8strisor,
It is the little things:
- finding a parking spot right by the entrance
- getting your coffee to go just how you like it
- arriving at the bank, and alas, your next in line
- arriving at the store, and the exchange is available
- the newspaper folded just the way you like it
- the computer flowed along all day w/o a hitch
- a ray of sunshine hit a spider's web and you stared
in amazement at the beauty of it
- a butterfly landed in your shoulder
- you spent the weekend catching up and
Monday evening, your home is just 'so'
grab a glass of wine, defrost your favorite
meal which you cooked over the weekend
and enjoy.
- and once the kitchen is cleaned you
- catch up with the news.... and then
realize that coming up next is you all time
favorite movie.
- you bought a MCd's meal with hot coffee for a homeless
the look in those eyes will last a long time.
Yup,
it is those little things.
Answering your question gave me a moment of
happiness, Thanks!

Knowing I got through the hardest thing in my life, losing my 17 month old daughter. It made me be the responsible person I am today & I take nothing for granted, especially my family, kids,& husband. If you can make it through the hard times & still have a good head on your shoulders, then you know you will be ok.

When my adult sons enjoy each other & me, when they accept their stepdad as the great man he is (cause I taught them to know a good man), and ( although they will NEVER admit it), liking him better than their DAD.
Waking up next to that man, smiling even before my eyes are open, just because I know what I will open them to, and wishing to live forever because a lifetime isn't enough!
