The only thing that the Word of God tells us that we have to do to go to Heaven, is to ask for God's forgiveness for our sins, and be washed in the blood of his Son Jesus Christ. As far as the Ten Commandments are concerned, they were a part of the Old Testament Law. The Bible tells us that we are now under a new covenant. This does not mean that we do away with the laws of the Old Testament. But that we trust in Jesus Christ as our Savior, and do our best to be obedient to God's Word. But we are all going to make mistakes; including myself. And God knows this very well. When we do, all that we must do is ask for God's forgiveness. The Ten Commandments are very important; but so is the entire Bible. No person was ever saved by obeying the Ten Commandments.

Actually when Jesus Died on the cross the ten commandments as such were reinforced in the New Testament. The new law still has the same ideas but Christians believe we no longer "keep the sabbath" but worship on the first day of the week. We have to do what the Bible says in order to go to heaven.

The bible says that we must obey all the commandments- and there are over 600. That is impossible, so that is why Jesus died...not so we could break them, but because we will by accident. Jesus is the only way to heaven, no matter if you kept every law in the Bible (which Jesus is the only way is kind of one)

No, in fact, the bible teaches we aren't capable of keeping the 10 commandments, that is why we need a savior - it says "without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness for sins". When we are born again of the spirit, we will then be able to obey God but the basis of our salvation will be Christ's death and reservations - not our works. Our salvation will produce good works. Hope that makes sense.

No the ten commandments were told to the ancient Hebrews and it is for their descendants only. God never took you out of Egypt. There is another concept that all God commanded Noah and his children 7 things. Noahs descendants must obey the Noahide laws to go to heaven. They are 1.Dont kill 2.Dont Steal 3.Dont commit adultery 4.Appoint judges 5.Dont cut off meat from a live animal and eat it(kill it first)6 dont blaspheme 7Dont serve idols (idolatry)

The first part is what's most important- obey the 10 commandments and the rest will follow. That is what the Bible says. Review Deut. Chapt. 6..

It would be in your best interest to obey the 10 commandments even if you were not worried about going to heaven. They could keep you out of jail, from getting sued or beaten by an angry woman's husband ,....just to name a few. Regardless of their religious roots, they are just good guidelines to live your life by.

Yes, but noone has obeyed it or ever will, because the flesh is sinful. So you know you are going to sin and you have already sinned before that's when Jesus comes in. If you accept him as your savior then you will go to heaven. You need forgiveness of these sins that you will commit and that is thru Jesus, because he died on the cross for your sins past, present, and future. Jesus died so that you and God could be reconciled, because he had the ten commandments for you to obey, but noone can because we live in the flesh. That's why they say, thru Jesus Christ you are saved.

The bible is a guide. If you live by the guide, your life will be easier and filled with love. God is a loving God according to the bible. I believe that God gave us the commandments to live by just as your parents gave you a set of rules. If you break the rules, they do not give you a life of hell. I believe that God is the same way. Break the rules, get punished. But no life of Hell. If God is truly loving, then there is no Hell except for the extremely hate full.....

The Ten Commandments are to be obeyed. Think about it. Is it ok to kill, steal, cheat on your spouse, etc? The Law of GOD does NOT save people. It was meant to lead us to Christ by pointing out our sins!

John 14:15  If ye love me, keep my commandments.

If you choose to be disobedient, salvation can be lost!!!
Which commandments? The 10!!!

Much more can be said about this subject.
