If you are in High School, think about the kids that you knew that dropped out, what did they have in common? I do teach GED and have heard probably one hundred different reasons for leaving school. Poor family life, low expectations from their environment, drugs, alcohol etc. It is difficult to break this circle of failure and not everyone will be saved. Many school systems have tried alternative High Schools with some success. Believe it or not, more structure in the school and not less, works well.

I think people should be denied driver's licenses if they drop out. Actually, I think you should have to keep a C average or better to get your license. What a great incentive to a child. I know it sounds a little harsh but, everyone wants to be able to drive and almost everyone can make at least a C grade. That way our country would become quite a bit smarter. If you're not smart enough to make a passing grade, I don't want you passing me on the highway.

make school more interesting. I'm a high school junior, and alot of the students around me who have or are considering dropping out, do it because they are positive there is sometime at their immediate access a helluva lot more interesting that sitting in the same 4-8 classrooms day in and day out with the same teacher sitting at the front, droning on and using the same boring teaching method
plus. it really sucks that field trips basically stop once u hit high school.

You need state or federal laws that say, "If you drop out, you enlist in the military."
