Hi! I have Outlook Express installed on my computer but have no idea how it works... I want to use my yahoo and gmail account with outlook express but don't know how to do it? I don't even know what POP3 means.

Any help would be highly appreciated

Many thanks!

GMail has a download to set it up on Outlook Express automatically, go into help there.

for Yahoo! Mail, it is available in Yahoo Mail Help. (Go into mail and select help in the top right corner). They will give you instructions on how to set it up in the most common mail readers.

And POP3 is Post Office Protocol v3, which is how outlook reads the mail.

First, you must have a paid email account with yahoo to be able to use the pop3 forwarding. I don't know about gmail, but I expect it is the same.

If you do have a paid account then go to "options""email preferences" and you will see "pop3 forwarding." It gives you very specific instructions on how to put it in Outlook, with the proper pop and smtp codes.

Good Luck

Why don't you try on HELP button on your outlook express. I prefer express if you want to check your mail only. If you are itnerested on having dates, calendar and many options for your daily work try Outlook.

try in options and properties of the account you want to forward your mail to.you can add as many accounts as you want.

HAve a nice day.

both yahoo and gmail have instructions on how to do this within the "options" bit on the webmail areas. Yahoo os under the filtering and forwarding bit and gmail under settings . forwarding and pop. This is step by step so should sort you right out for both.

Go to your Yahoo mail page into preferences and turn on POP forwarding, didn't cost me a penny to do it.
Then enter the details for POP and SMTP as shown on the Yahoo mail help pages.
Note: 'My server requires authentication' needs to be ticked in your OE account settings for Yahoo accounts to work.

For the BILLIONTH TIME...

I don't know why everyone thinks you need a paid 'plus' account in yahoo to use pop3 access...

I have a free account and have been accessing it that way for YEARS!.

Yahoo Mail requires you pay for the Plus service in order to POP the server.

You can find instructions here:
