Does culture and etiquette role?

I think the question need to be stated a little better to garner real answers.

There is nothing wrong with baseball caps, nor is eating usually looked down upon.

I'm pretty sure that you are allowed to both eat and wear caps at a bible college.

Perhaps simple manners would tell you that you should not wear a hat at the table.

Proper ettiquette states that a man shouldn't wear a hat in the presense of a cross or a flag. If you are going to a Bible college, I'm guessing you probably encounter both those things on a daily basis.

You already asked this question, but here is the answer. Again.
It is rude for a man to wear a hat inside any public or private building. Take your cap off when you go inside any building. Including a college cafeteria.

Are simple, everyday manners just beyond you?

I don't know about a Bible college, but most classrooms do not allow eating OR wearing sunglasses or baseball caps. It is simply rude and reflects poor upbringing. As a teacher, I NEVER allow student to wear a hat in my classroom OR to eat while I am teaching. It is almost as rude as those morons who make cell phone calls or IM their friends during a movie. It simply reflects the increased level of rudeness society is forced to tolerate today by people whose parents failed terribly in raising them with proper manners.
