Finland. After all, they are still around and the Soviet Union did have a bigger wolf at the door.
In 1939 the Soviet Union wanted to annex Finland. Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania had already been taken, so the Soviets figured Finland, or the Karelians, should be easy. They weren't.
As with Biafra and the Czech uprising, the US just sat back and ignored it. Finland paid an enormous bill for "reparations" to the Soviet Union and lost some of its land--but maintained its independence. In one way, Finland lost the war. But considering their adversary wanted to gobble them up, it looks like they won.

Actually in the first part of the Finno-Russian War the Finns whipped the Soviets but the Soviets did what they have always done, learned from their mistakes and came back and were fought to a stand still that cost the Finns a great deal in men and land during the fighting and later in a treaty of very favourable terms the Soviets got from the Finns. This war led Finland into an uneasy pact with Germany. It is interesting ti note that of all the allies of Germany the only one to pay all the war reparations that were levied after the war by the victors was Finland.

The results of the so-called "Winter War" were mixed, but Russia seems to have benefitted more. Finland held out until March 1940, when a peace treaty was signed ceding about 10% of Finland's territory, and 20% of its industrial capacity, to the Soviet Union. Whlie the Soviet forces finally managed to break through the Finnish defence, neither the Soviet Union nor Finland emerged from the conflict unscathed. Soviet losses on the front were tremendous, and the country's international standing suffered.

In July1944, the Finnish army halts a massive Soviet offensive before it reaches the 1940 border.
An armistice agreement is signed in Moscow in September 1944. The peace terms restore the frontier of 1940, except in the far north where the Soviet Union annexes the Petsamo area with its nickel mines and ice-free port on the Arctic Ocean. Finland has to pay huge war reparations to the Soviet Union in the form of manufactured goods. The entire population of the ceded areas - about 450,000 people - choose to leave their homes rather than live under Soviet rule. They are resettled in Finland. The peninsulta of Porkkala is rented to the Soviets for 50 years as a naval base.

Finland won!
Eventually, the anti-Communist forces won after 5 months of fierce fighting, including the battle of Tampere which was the largest battle in Scandinavian history until that time.

It seems like Finland won that one because Russia left them alone to concentrate on the Germans. The Fins were very good with skis and white clothing and fighting in arctic conditions

Finland gave up a lot of territory but survived as a free and independent state. That's a pretty good outcome going up against the bloodiest butcher in history, Joseph Stalin.

Finland, but Russia took "The Maid of Finlands" foot. By that I mean when looking at a map of Finland, she is considered a woman standing, Russia took her "foot" that was sticking out. :/

Now, where her foot was is just an "angled" map line.
