This is an interesting quote, dont you think so?

As Rep. E. Y. Berry tells it, Chief Ben Wildhorse, a South Dakota Sioux, came to Washington and was given an audience by the Vice President.

The Chief's advice to the Vice President: "Young man, be careful with your immigration laws. We were careless with ours."
Is America being careless? Will America go the way of the Native peoples?

We were careless with ours." is a true a way of looking at it as there is

Chief Wildhorse is more of a man than most that approach Capitol Hill. We need to listen up to people like that! America is being careless to that extent, and the Chief recognizes this, and has the for lack of better terms, the balls to point this out. He is truly an upstanding individual with the belief to stand up and speak his mind!!

I think we are forgetting the main point. The world is increasingly getting over populated with people at a fast rate. Even if illegal imagrants were deported, where would they go? We'd still be back to the same problem of over population. That means that the U.S. is still being over populated with it's own citizens too. The effects this has on the environment are devistating. Urban sprawl continues to push our neighborhoods into wildlife space, more cars on the road because more people are driving, more smog, etc. and it's happening everywhere. Globally we are adding 4.1 more births a second at a rate of 1.8 people dying. By 2050, the world will ad 2.5 more additional people. That's the rate of the total world population in 1960! Where are all these people going to go? They will continue to cross our borders and we will continue to have children. This is a global problem on a large scale- There's something to say about quality of life .

So, he's business-minded and offers words of wisdom to people who he may not exactly see eye-to-eye with; meaning he keeps his personal preferences seperate from his business preferences. I can see why he was elected.

Carol R has a point. I don't see why else he could've said what he did; it figures into his personal point of view, from my take. I like it.
