Ok so this guy and I have been on and off 8 months. This time we seemed to be getting it right (on the same level, wanting the same thing, back both in the same area). After a month of calls nearly every day and seeing each other frequently, he decided to basically tell me that he was in love with me. He didn't say it in a direct way, but that was his point. I didn't know what to say b/c he hurt me in the past and the way he brought thinngs up was extremely awkward-so I said nothing. After I left the next morning, I didn't hear from him anymore. When I text him, no response. I had to leave a message asking him what was going on. He called back and told me that he has been busy and that he didn't want to date me; that he didn't have time for a girlfriend in general. He said we could still hang out, but he wasn't looking for something serious. I guess my question is is he being truthful? Is he just not into me? Is he hurt b/c I didn't repsond and taking it hard? Is it a pride issue?

Of course he's hurt. I took a risk and told you he loved you and you didn't respond at all. You didn't have to say you loved him back, but you should have acknowledged that you have feelings for him and not just using him.

what do you think?

if you didn't respond, you put him in a real tight spot. I probably would've done the same thing, have done the same thing actually. Now he's all messed up and doesn't know what to think, and probably assumes you don't like him at all. He's probably feeling resentment by his reply to your message, and i couldn't really blame him. yes, i'd say he's taking/ taken it very hard.

don't know if you can undo it, but if you do love him you could at least tell him

he's hurt, he's probably shy about it and then he couldn't say it directly so he said it indirectly and then he got nothing out of you so he probably decided that if u dont feel the same about him he wont want to be with you in that way if u dont feel the same so he's trying to not get hurt anymore so he said you could hang out-to say let be friends.

I guess he was turned off at first because u were non responsive but if he was still interested i dont understand why he still puts u off. U can still hang out, when he calls - that is! C if you can bebuild something from there, if u'r still interested.

always be truthful even though it's not what they want to hear....as long as you say something comforting and not something harsh and obnoxious....now because you didn't acknowledge his feelings he's hurt and may never be again in that way towards you.

I think it's both he's hurt and his pride is hurt. It would be crushing to tell someone you love them and they don't respond.
