It's true. Look It up!
The "Coca" in Coca-Cola means cocaine.
It was perfectly legal in the late 1800's when It was invented.
Many products available in a drugstore during this time in history contained various amounts of cocaine.

Not only did coke originally have coca in it (albeit at an apparently very small derivative percentage - see Wikipedia if you want more info on that, I checked and it details the amount and how it was removed in 1906) but did you hear about Indian Tonic Water and quinine - and it still has it in. Quinine has anti-malarial, analgesic and anti-inflammatory qualities. By the way, I love the mis-spelling by one of our answerers here; imagine settling down for the night with a nice warm mug of cocoa cola! - No offence to the answerer in question here, take comfort in the thought it gave me a smile before turning in for the night!

It's true. It used to be a pep drink and actually had quite a lot in it.
I'm not sure when it was taken out of the ingredients, probably in the 1930's.
Cocaine was used for dentistry to numb gums which is done with xylocaine these days.
The coca leaves have legitimate medicinal use as well as they are still used in South America because they counter the effects of altitude sickness when the leaves are chewed.

it is true, they had to stop using it when so many people got addicted.
when my husband was very young he went to America on holiday with his parents.
he got addicted to coca-cola there.
when he got back home his dad took him to the doctor and asked why he wouldn't eat and would only drink coke.
the answer was addiction so he had a rough few months coming of it.
sounds mad doesn't it but it is very true x
