Yes. Mine was a former homeless tomcat / streetcat. I wonder if maybe he ever had a "near-miss" with some lightening or if he got drenched in some storms. Anyway, he hides in the dog's crate. There is really nothing you can do for him. Mine is on anti-anxiety meds, because he's just generally anxious regardless of storm season. Maybe that helps and he'd be more freaked out during T-storms if he didn't take the meds. Hopefully your kitty gets over it pretty quickly after the storm has passed. I think it's more common in dogs, but there certainly are many cats who experience thunder - related fear.

We have 2 cats(brother/sister) The female loves the thunder/lightning storms. But the male is terrified of it, So much that he hides in the bathroom under the sink in the back corner, and wont come out.
He also hides in between my feet if a storm is coming.

My cat doesn't like thunder. She would hide under my bed...but after I remodeled my room she hasn't been back in here. She will stay in her own bed. And my new kitten doens't even flinch during a storm.

Hahah, yeah. My cat is such a wussy. Every time it thunders he runs and hides.
I can't imagine what they must think that noise is.

My other kitty is a tough dude who rules the neighbourhood. He won't even come inside during a thunderstorm, he prefers to take it like a man outdoors. (I mean, when we let him outside and it starts to rain -- we don't keep him outside all the time.)

They're both scared of the vacuum though.

My poor baby was the same. She hid under the bed everytime it stormed. I think it's natural for cats.

Mine impossibly hides under the dresser with the bottom opening one forth her size! I believe she becomes ooze & flows under.

yes cats have hearing much greater than humans so it hears thunder much louder than you can so it doesn't like thunder.
