it depends on how much time and effort your willing to put into a pet. Bichons are small, require less exercise, food, they cost les at the vet, for flea control ect. Yellow lads are extreamly smart and can be trained to be a really great dog. A bichon would be better for an apartment, but from my experiance they are also yappy dogs that bite ankles and bark alot. Retrievers are loyal, great dogs but better for someone with a house and a yard. they are more work and cost more in the long run for food, flea control ect, but are much more rewarding dogs.

it depends on what your looking for in a dog. If If you have any allergies then a bichon is great they have hair not fur and they don't shed like a lab does. With a lab there is hair all over the place. I bred labs for a few years and i have 2 labs right now. They are great with kids and at the same time they will protect you too. Bichons can turn into a one person dog where they will only go to one person. With both dogs you have to spend time training them. All dogs have to go for walks and if you feed your dog a high premium food then you dont run into as many vet fees except for needles and all dogs need needles. Labs have a better personality then bichons and you dont have to goto a groomer to have hair cut so there is less fees involve with a lab. you have to make sure you have the space for a lab, if you live in an apt. then go for the bichon. If you have the space go for the lab.

It all depends on the home you live in. If it is small or an apartment little to no backyard, I reccomend the bichon. If you got time and room go for the lab, but that tail will clear a table in one swipe, trust me! Labs are very energetic, even when they get older, so like the outdoors, and be prepared to exersice. Bichons need exersice but not as much, but they do need haircuts about once a month to every other month so unless you want to learn to do it yourself it will cost you. Around here haircuts are about $30-45. starting cost. I do recomened the shelter first lots of labs and lab mixes get dropped off, and even bichon poodle type dogs. so try there first PLEASE!!

I think a Bichon is always better than a Lab.

it depends on your life style. Labs are dogs for people who have a big yard, lots of energy, and are willing to provide a lab with a lot of excercise. Labs are also great with kids. Bichons i believe need less excercise, but more grooming because of their hair, and im not sure if they're good with kids. I advise you research both breeds before you decide.

Depends on what you want to do with your dog. There's not a lot that a Bichon and a Lab have in common, aside from being affectionate. They have different grooming needs, training needs, sizes, habits, etc. etc. etc.

My best friend adopted a lab from a rescue program and he is just the SWEETEST thing in the world. He's a bit hyper, though, so if you're someone who likes to chill out and relax, a lab probably isn't for you because they typically have to go on several long walks per day. But if you can handle that, I would say go for the lab. They're SO much fun! :)
