I am constantly complainin to my hubby if he leaves my cabinet doors in the kitchen or anywhere for that matter open! I am constantly cleaning something even when it is ealready clean! I find myself straightening things at the store if it is a little messed up! I try not to do it, but I cant stop myself from fixing it! I even try doin stuff at other peoples houses...not even thinkin twice! Hubby tell me stop! what is this called! I get so bad the my towels are all faced the same way and folded the exact same, if hubby does laundry I will refold stuff! Is this normal?
Is there a way to stop this?

It sounds like you may be suffering with obsessive compulsive Disorder. However, no-one here can diagnose it for you, so I'd suggest seeing your doctor, to see if he can refer you to a specialist in this field. There is a type of therapy, known as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, which is very effective for this disorder.

In the meantime, I'd suggest picking up 'Brain Lock' by Jeffrey Schwarz at your local book store or you can order it off Amazon. It has helped me immensely.

Good luck and take care : )

This sounds like obsessive compulsive disorder. There are a variety of treatments for this depending on the cause. Start with a counselor that deals with stuff like this and see if you can get treatment via that route or if you need medicine to help as well.

obsessive compulsive disorder, your compulsive behavior involves order and cleanliness.

[edit] to shubiz: the main factor whether evaluating a mental health issue as "a problem" or not is whether the person's quality of life suffers because of it. many people live with depression, ocd, etc. is whether they feel their quality of life is being affected or not. a person who just likes to keep things neat may have ocd-like symptoms but not need treatment. in this case though, the poster is clearly asking for help.
