I confess to the world that I avoid reading the Old Testament(except Psalms and Proverbs) because of how God and men treated women. How raped women never got justice from God, how if a woman commits adultery gets punished more severely than a man who does and so on.

first of all the OT is essential if you are going to get a proper understanding of the NT, which is just a basic commentary on the OT. Also, you cannot read these things and gain full understanding with a 20th century mindset and understanding- you need to understand a little better about the traditions and the culture at that time . Nothing changed with Jesus, He just showed them how to walk in the spirit of the law. You must understand that yes, there are these penalties for sin and they don't always seem fair, but justice was carried out by men with a vengence - with haughtiness and pridefulness and these men began to see the law as their salvation. Jesus showed that the law was instruction for living a righteouss life , a life that would be blessed and a blessing- He showed us God's intent for His instruction without all of the additives of men.
When it all comes down to it, though, regardless of the penalties of sin, no matter how unfair they seem, just like in today's society- regardless of the consequence for the crime- it's not something oyu have to worry about if you don't commit the crime.
Basically, don't be a criminal and you won't get the penalty for the crime. But Jesus' grace rises above all of that - He knows we have hearts of flesh and will fail and will fall sometimes- He knows our hearts and if we purpose in our hearts to be obedient and love the Lord with all of our hearts , souls , minds, and lean not on our own understanding- He will cleanse us and make our paths straight

We must read it.This where the 613 Laws of the Creator are found. In the Torah. Women are not treated unjustly by our Father. The Hebrew translation of the scriptures dose not leave this misunderstandig. The ones that translated the scriptures into English did not translated the message properly. That's why the whole world is deceived today, (Rev. 12:9) If you don't read the old testament how will you know the proper way to treat others since that is where these instructions are found. I will give you the name of a translation where you can see what I'm telling you, and you can read it for yourself.

The Old Testament was written by the Jews for the Jews.
The Old Testament was a guide to show how God dealt with his people (The Jews).

The OT is a very complicated book because some of the words are not even in use any more. A lot of people try to mix Ancient Hebrew words with Modern 20th century English words. They have different meanings.

You have to remember, the OT was written nearly 36 centuries ago. Rape, Execution, Murder and War were the way of life for these people. Do not condemn their lifestyle, but try to understand it.

Oh now I KNOW you've got to be a feminist. Biblical women were treated well by their husbands in most cases. Some of the most important figures in the Bible were WOMEN. Pray and get yourself right with God, so that you will understand a woman's position in God's plans. Stop fighting against what God would have you to be. You're a woman, and whether you like it or not, you do have a special God-given role that a man doesn't have. You should be submissive to a Godly husband. You should be happy to be submissive to him, because he should treat you like a queen. That's just the way it is.

You cannot believe in the Word of God and only accept part of it. The Bible should be read in it's entirety to fully understand it. If you recall in John 8 , the woman who commited adultery and was about to be stoned by a crowd was saved by Jesus. He told her He did not judge her guilty and ask her to sin no more. The New Testament and the Old Testament work together to show us God's plan and power.

The Old Testament lays the foundation to the Christian Faith. Jesus is portrayed on every page, and it points to the Cross. Nearly every symbolism in Revelation is taken from the Old Testament. People who say they don't understand Revelation because it's all symbolic, haven't got a good knowledge of the Old Testament.

I just want to make a comment to What Up Yo!!! Eve was beguiled by the serpent. It was Adam who sinned, not Eve.

I believe you are confusing the historical text and man's law for God's commands and laws. Just because the information is there does not mean God condones such conduct. In fact the nation of Israel, throughout history, received the wrath of God for sins and actions. By not reading you are missing many blessings that God might be wanting to reveal to you through Scriptures. Remember it is the Holy Spirit that reveals the spiritual truth and lessons from all scriptures. There are many terrible things that the Old Testament discusses and talks about but to assume that God approves of them all is to make a very large mistake and to miss many wonderful stories and prophecies.

The Bible is the Word of GOD! I understand that some books portray a very ugly picture of the world. But, then again, how much different is the biblical portrayal versus the world we live in today?

If you do not read the Old Testament, how would you be able to understand our creation, the unmatching faith of Abraham, the human nature of ancient times, etc.

There is much to learn from the Old Testament. Keep in mind, the whole Bible is a love letter from our CREATOR!

GOD bless

The word Bible means 66 books so if take part of it away it wouldn't be a bible in three places in the bible it state this, at one of them REVELATION 22:18-19 18 I am bearing witness to everyone that hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll : If anyone makes an addition to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this scroll ; 19 and if anyone takes anything away from the words of the scroll of this prophecy, God will take his portion away from the trees of life and out of the holy city, things which are written about in this scroll. The Bible is in harmony new with old and old with new . PS was they doing what Jehovah God Almighty said to. And if you still want to see His name you will have to look in the older King James 1961 or older they took it out of the bible, and now you know what Jehovah God said about that.At Exodus 6:3 and Psalms 83:18 Jehovah is still God Amighty and Jesus Christ is still his son.

hey justice will come at the end.dont worry everybody pays at the end surely the women might end up in heaven and the guys yup in burnig flames.but hey god has reason for everything when you get to know god ask what reason did he have for that there is always an answer just have to look hard.remember we only focus on this world about rape materials and stuff like proverbs say look for treasures in heaven dont worry about the rape they went through but what they learned and what other people learn.like the raped you know that now they are those that hurt and you dont know about and the rapist those who god let keep living to keep you on the guard against the enemy. enemy wants to take your spirit.so god punishes you so you thoughen up and look to him for comfort and that just like bad things happen hell surely bless you with alot after the ordeal of suffering.love peace knowledge is key search for it.
