How long will it be until I can stop feeling bad and get over the guilty feeling I seem to have everytime I think about getting a new dog after mine just passed on? How long should I wait?

There is no reason in the world for you to feel guilty over wanting to get another dog. In a way you'e honouring your dog who's passed on by wanting another dog - it makes a statement about how much your dog meant to you.

You should wait, however, until you've grieved. No one can say how long - it's very different for everyone. You'll know when the time is right, and in the meantime try and think about the happy memories with your dog and treasure your good times.

Think about THIS--it is a tribute to your old dog that you want another wonderful dog experience! Don't feel guilty---rescue a dog from a shelter, and feel justified & satisfied!

Don't feel guilty. You need to show your affection for animals to a new dog. Your new dog needs it too.
