My brother died a few days ago

I don't know what makes you ask this question.
Once, I had that question every moment on my mind. That was when my brother and mom passed away. I believe....When people die, they are still around you, just that you don't see them.
When what is connecting their soul to their body, called the silver cord is severed, they will leave their body, but will still be near to you. They can see you grieving, they can hear you crying. Typically, they find it difficult to let go until they are assured that the living can carry on well. Some sources from books* mentioned that they are typically still around until their funneral is settled, or are usually present during their own funnerals. I have heard that from friends too who have the ability to see. They still have consciousness, but probably an expanded one.
They are there whenever you think of them, it's just the power of thoughts. And you just have to close your eyes to feel, and next thing you know that, you can communicate with them, just let your imagination flows.
There are some good articles you can read in the source that i have listed. Your reason for asking may not be coming from grieve but there is a song's lyrics that I wish to share with you, because it shares my belief.

You either go to Heaven or to Hell. You go to Heaven if you accept Jesus as your personal saviour. As far as the body parts, you either get cremated or get buried in the ground where you whole body eventually crumbles. The bones stay intact for quite awhile.

People have options as to how they want their body disposed. They wait until the promise of the ressurection is fulfilled.

Their soul goes to God or to eternity without God, their body eventually rots away and goes back to dust.
If they are cremated they becomes a mixture of ash and dust........
