Through the peaks and valleys of life, the wise man relies upon God.

Proverbs 9:10-13.

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. For through me your days will be many, and years will be added to your life. If you are wise, your wisdom will reward you; if you are a mocker, you alone will suffer. The woman Folly is loud; she is undisciplined and without knowledge."

It's not as short, though.

Try this:

Folly is loud and obnoxious; be glad in the fear of the Lord which is the beginning of understanding and wisdom.

Well, I'm looking at this and I tell you what I'll do, I'll trade these sentences and give you some scripture instead.

In Matthew, Jesus said, don't worry about tomorrow, today has enough trouble of its own. He said not to be anxious about anything, but in all things, bring our requests to God. I can't think of any verses about not being too happy.

The second part, there is a bible verse, "fear of God is the beginning of wisdom".

There you go!

10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.
Psalms 111:10 (KJV)

Do not become too happy, then you will lose sight of what you are becoming. Do not become too sad, then you will lose sight of happiness. And the first of all wisdom is that God loves you, and you have nothing to fear. (But fear itself.)

In all things walk in moderation.

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his praise endureth for ever.

Moderation in all things; don't get too happy or sad.
Your first consideration in all things should be GOD.
Live your life to reflect the grace of GOD in your actions.

Ooh this stinks -
Can't believe I'm embarrassing myself like this.
