First, I am not an Atheist nor am I a Christian. That being said, you are so full of bull sh!t I wonder how you can actually see out of you eyes!!! Some Atheists are open minded. Some Christians are open minded. Most of the Christians here are so closed minded that Jesus could walk right up to them and if he didn't look like the picture they have then it isn't him. It would be just some stupid idiot trying to get them to believe in the wrong thing. When I first came on here I saw a lot more open minded Atheists but they have since started closing since you Christians have been sitting here trying to force your religion down their throats. Talks are nice. Debates are nice. Name calling and telling people they are going to hell when they die is not so nice. Some people ask hones questions of you Christians and you have treated them like they were stupid. Some of you can only say go read the bible. Well, I still have questions and I have read the bible. I don't know what the problem is with answering a question directly without telling someone to read the bible or pray. How about if you just answer the question? You say you shouldn't take the bible literaly but then you tell us to go read the bible. You say that it tells us the truth and yet you claim you don't have to listen to the old testament because Jesus came to forgive your sins. Yet the ten commandments are in the old testament. If you are going to try to really convert people don't you think you should really be trying to help people instead of assuming they are idiots and have never even read the bible? Maybe you should be the ones opening your eyes for once.

I beieve that Atheists are not bull headed. Some so called Christians are. Now, I believe in Christ and all, I go to church(sometimes), but I think Atheists may be come off a bit rough because they see that God is not tangible, and for all of us(Christians and non christians), seeing is believing. We are a logical creature and telling an Atheist that they have no control over their lives cause them to go head to head with some folks. I don't hate anybody, especially the atheists, some are actually the nicest people I have ever met, and are usually open to discussing about the possibility of the afterlife, God, etc.

I am Catholic. I love and believe in God. But my best friend is an Atheist. And I don't find her close-minded at all. She's very intelligent. The thing about Atheists is that they were not brought up with religion. That's the only difference, and that doesn't make them wrong.
I find it very offense that you say "Shame on you atheist. My God is gonna kick your butt one of these days." I was brought up to believe that God loves all people. And I believe he does. Catholic, Christian, and Atheist alike. We are all brothers and sisters.
When it turns out God hates all the same people you do, you can safely assume you've created God in your own image.

I think the better question is: Why are you such a hipocrit?
You say christians are the most open-minded, but I indeed think that atheists are. Atheists actually research other religions and finally come to a conclusion that there is no "god".
You say atheists are "close-minded and bullheaded" but you then say this sentence "Shame on you atheist. My God is gonna kick your butt one of these days."
Hipocrit.

Hmm. Well, if we Christians are wrong and there is no God, and nothing exists when we die, at least we will have spent our whole life loving others and trying our hardest. Where as if Atheists are wrong and when they die there is a God, they're gonna get severe punishment. So basically, it would be better if you die Christian than die Atheist. For all I know, there could be no God. But I don't believe that. And even if there was no God, I would rather live my life trying to do the right thing and find out there isn't than live my life evilly and find out there is. Does that make sense? But anyway, Atheists do seem very closed-minded. But, in the end it's their decision if they wanna die and go to hell or the deepest levels of purgatory or if they want to accept the truth.
Another thing is, I've heard of people having dreams and stuff where God completely changes their mind, and why would they make that stuff up? I've never heard of a Christian having a dream in which Satan says there is no God and being like, "okay, I'm not gonna be Christian anymore."

If Christians are so open minded, then why are you condemning Atheists? Isn't that a bit hypocritical? And to "David C"...On the contrary. Atheists do take responsibility for our wrong doings (sins). We have no one else to blame. No devil and no god. That is generally why people become Atheist, because we chose to take responsibility for ourselves and our strengths and weaknesses instead of putting the power into someone elses hands.
And to Erin M below me: Who says that if I don't believe in God that I am living my life "evilly"? You mean to tell me that all the work I do to help children with cancer is evil? In all of the religion that I was raised with, it never says I am going hell if I don't believe in God. In fact, to the contrary, it says that God is a loving and forgiving God. You are proving the point once again that you (Christians) are hypocritical. I have never heard such close minded rhetoric "If you don't believe in God than you must be evil." And, to have a dream about the devil that influences you enough to change, you would have to believe in god. Just because people don't believe in god, does not mean that they believe in the devil. (See logically, if you believe in the ultimate evil, you have to believe in the ultimate good, or vice versa. Otherwise, there is no purpose to believe in them at all.....see how that works?)

No - most Christians are NOT open-minded. They may open their hearts to Jesus, but their minds often shut down, their ears grow deaf, their eyes go blind, their hearts harden and their tongues curse and condemn and damn non-believers.
And FYI - "your" God is also the God of the Jews and the Muslims. There is no such thing as an exclusively "Christian" God.
And nice of you to show the compassion that is at the core of your religion, threatening others with violence and using your God as a playground bully. Good for you.

The definition of open-mindedness is: Receptive to new and different ideas or the opinions of others.
You have only your ideas,
I am an atheist, and I have examined all kinds of different philosophies to see if atheism was right for me. (Even christianity as much as I hate to admit it).
Every day I read the Qur'an and Bible, and other sacred texts, so I do keep an open mind, maybe you need some help in terms of defining the words "Open Mind"

Um... I don't understand your argument. Apparently you do not understand the meaning of "open-minded" because not tolerating other beliefs is the exact opposite of "open-minded." Yes, there are some close-minded atheists, just like there are some close-minded Christians (like you, apparently) and close-minded Muslims, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, etc.

Atheists are most open minded, they will entertain any notion that can be "demonstrated" to be true. Closed minded is believing that you have a monopoly on truth based on a superstitious book written thousands of years ago by men who thought the world was flat and disease was caused by demons.
