Well he is the reason that a president can only serve two terms. He refused to run after his second term starting a tradition that lasted until FDR. The Constitution was amended after that to only allow two terms. He insisted that he be called simply Mr. President instead of Grace, Highness, Majesty, which help to fix the idea that the President was merely a regular person in office. I think it is possible we would have had presidents for life if it were not for Washington. There are many other legacies.
