Sorry, all of these answers kind of suck.
It will depend on many factors, such as:
--Year you became commissioned (year group)
--Your age at commissioning
--Your timing of promotion selection boards
--# years spent & Time-In-Grade requirements for each rank progression
--The needs of the Army
--The Army's Warrant Officer endstrength (since both can fly helos)
--Your Women/Minority (EEO) Status
Also, keep this in mind: Although the Army claims to support 'best qualified' promotions, in actuality there is severe affirmative action going on behind the scenes, especially in the highly technical branches like AV...where the prevailing perception is that 'only' privileged caucasians fly helos, so the Army has to "fix" this and promote more people of color and females to make the branch more like the rest of the Army.

It takes a certain amount of time so ages would vary a lot according to when an officer joined. In the Army they have a
"program" of up or out - you are expected to make major in
5-6 years after finishing Officers School you are a Major or invited to resign, the Captain at 36-42 months is the same.
It gets rid of "dead wood" officers. So the average should be around 30 - 32, since you must have college degree to be officer & that would put your enlistment at around 22-24 yrs old. My son was 28 when he joined - he got our of college & worked before deciding to serve his country. He took a $30,000 paycut. You got to love patriotism.

All of the answers thus far are out to lunch.
There is no average age...period.
Ages will vary simply because everyone is not the same age when they enter the military after graduation and commissioning.
Between the 8th and 12th year of service they should be eligible....for selection.
