George Washington believed in a stronger central government and had Federalist views (Federalists were led by Alexander Hamilton). He had a "trickle down" economic policy, where the government favored the rich so that the rich could use their money to improve the government. Jefferson was the founder of the Democratic-Republican party and believed in power to the masses. He favored the common man and desired for American to be an agrarian nation. Also, he believed in the state's rights doctrine, where states had more power and had the right to nullify some laws.
