Why does the stories in the old testament prefer second sons as the chosen one i.e. Cain & Abel, Ishmahel & Issac, Esau & Jacob, King David sons,..Josephs vs his 11 brothers, etc, etc

If first makes crystal clear (read again if you haven't seen that) that the first-born NORMALLY have an automatic first precedence in family leadership, responsibilities, and benefits.

The accounts you gave show that it is not a fully-rigid rule. Personal initiative counts. These accounts show, in a perfectly obvious way, that the decisions of the elder are certainly not infallible.

The CHOSEN one is one who choses to do things God's way.

Well, Issac was the son of the wife, and Ishmahel was the son of the slave. Cain killed Abel............ I am sure it had a point about God picking rulers or something like that.

Because God has always chosen "the least of them" or the weakest to work through so that there would be no doubt in people's minds from whence the power came so He'd get the glory, not Man.
