no,not at all
if you're thinking about suicide (even lightly) TELL SOMEONE IMMEDIATLY
go to the hospital, they'll find a good place for you, if not a psych ward, then something with ppl your own age that are dealing with the same sorts of issues and low self-esteem

I am going to assume you are talking about someone you know. The only prerequisite to a 72 hour psychiatric hold is that the patient is deemed to be a danger to himself or others. If you check yourself in, you are not obligated beyond 72 hours. However, if you are committed by a third party (usually the police), the 72 hours can be extended to 30 days.
If you or a friend are feeling depressed and have seriously expressed suicidal tendencies, it is recommended that you suggest the person check themselves in because you feel they are under a lot of stress and need a time out. If that doesn't work, and you know the person is in imminent threat to themselves, you have to call the police.

I have seen little kids like around 6 and 7 in a psyche hospital as well as really old people. There are no age limits. It would only depend on the particular hospital. They do separate minors/under 18 from people over 18.

I don't think there's an age limit on psychiatric wards and suicide watch. My guess is children would not qualify, and neither feeble old men/women, but anything in between should be able to get in

Depends on the hospital. Some hospitals have wards for kids 17 and under. 18+ you have to go into the adult ward.

if you are a minor under 12 you must have parental consent, by law if someone is under a suicide risk you need to be admitted for a 72 hr watch

No. There is more to this than most kids realize. This I know from my husband a detective. Kids and teenagers do not really grasp that dead is dead. That there is no turning back.

No. Most hospitals have a children's unit. And if they don't, they would keep you in the ER until they could find a hospital that had a bed...
