Your legs are pinned under a car! Would you cut off your legs?

Question

Your car flips over and ends up 200 ft. from the road. Your legs are pinned underneath. You hear cars going by, but nobody can see or hear you. You know you will die from lack of water, if you don't get help soon.

There's a pocket knife in your pocket. Would you use it to cut off your legs as a last resort?

nope, I would rather die of dehydration than risk bleeding to death and living the rest of my life without my legs. What if I cut them off and 30 seconds later a pedestrian walked up to see what was going on...I would be pissed so nope I wouldnt cut them off. I'd pray.

Nope I would either dig myself out from below or my endorphins would kick in enough to produce herculean strength to remove the car from my legs.

I could also try ripping off one of the mirrors and reflecting the sunlight for help or very carefully draining some fuel and setting it alight to create a fire to attract attention (there is obviously a major flaw with this last plan - lol)!

All the above, obviously depends on what side of the car I am trapped on and whether it is the front or back wheels.

The penknife could be used to take the wheel nuts off and remove the wheel or to deflate the tyres........

This is a pretty morbid question. I did read about someone who cut off his arm with a pocket-knife about a year ago under similar circumstances...so I imagine in the same situation based on someone else's experience, I may come to the idea that that would be the only solution to survive....

but I doubt I would do it. At 200ft from the road I think I would trust that someone with a keen eye would notice before I slipped into eternal sleep.

I don't think a pocket knife will cut through bone so you will have gone through hell on earth for nothing. I'd use the knife to dig away the dirt perhaps or anything I could do with it other than cause any more useless pain.

Hello!! :o) NONE of us could ever say for sure [at least not until we find ourselves in that situation] but I doubt that I'd cut off my legs. Especially in the scenario you gave. With blood gushing out of both legs - would any of us even make that 200 feet to the road? Craig!! :o)

Heck no, I would use the shiney part of the blade to signal to an airplane or a helicopter. Or just ask the local squirrels to lend a hand. I guess you were not a boy scout.
