and will it cause tenderness on a persons side going toward their back. Will it cause low grade fevers?

Yes you can certainly only get it on one side, but i don't know if you can generally feel it like that. most the time with UTIs people only really feel it e.g. on passing water or notice an odd discharge in the urine. It may cause a fever as your body's natural response to infection, but my gut instinct would be to stop asking vague questions of the great unwashed on the internet, who could spin you any old line and make you believe it, and get the hell on down to a reliable doctor's surgery. Or, if it gets worse, to A & E.

Yes, you can get an infection in just one, and it happens a lot. The fever sounds like a classic symptom, too.
get to a doctor before it gets worse.

Of course you can get an infection in just one kidney.
