It depends on your body, and advice of a doctor but if my cold is REALLY bad, I have taken decongestant pills, Nyquil, and slathered myself with Vicks!

There is no need to take both of them. Treat the symptoms that you are experiencing. If you have a cough, dextromethorphan would help since it is a cough suppressant. If you are sneezing or have a runny nose, get something with an antihistamine in it. If you have sinus pain or congestion, get something with a decongestant in it like Sudafed. If you have all of the above or a combination of these, read the label and it will tell you what works for each symptom.

few years ago I took NyQuil and some other cold tablets over counter got really sick. Talked to a person about what i felt and taking, told me he was doing same and doctor told him it was lucky he come in when he did. If not could of got serious like real serious. I stopped the taking both got feeling a lot better real fast. Checked the instructions and there it was don't mix these types. Read the instructions and warnings it is there.
