I was on Klonopin for a few months and have been on Ativan for over a year. For awhile I did ok, would only have to take one a day, more if i had an attack.

But now, i have nothing to be nervous about, I'll be sitting at home watching TV and just start shaking uncontrollably. Other ppl even ask me about it, if I'm alright.

Is it possible I could have Parkinson's Disease? I have leg tremors on occasion, but really its the shaking that gets to me.

I have an appt with my doctor in a month, but what can I do in the meantime?

To exercise my best imaging technician voice.... i'm afraid that's something I can't answer, you really will have to ask your doctor. It's possible it could be Parkinsons, but then, it could just be generalised tremor or some other complaint.

If you're really worried, see if you can get just a 5 minute slot at a day surgery and ask them the same questions, see what response you get. If they seem to be avoiding, do pump them mildly, but understand there's often only so much that can be done without a test. e.g. If after your upcoming appointment your doctor still cannot really answer it, and wants to rule out Parkinsonism, you may be sent for some tests including a nuclear medicine / isotope imaging "DaT"scan which allows measurement of the structures in the brain responsible for supressing muscular shakes. Without the results of such a test it's simply not wise to try and guess at the cause. I'm sorry. I know it's a very worrying and uncertain time for you right now! Try to enjoy life apart from these shakes and concentrate on other things for a month until your appointment comes up (or you are able to get a 5 minute drop-in appointment) - seriously, there's no use worrying about it until then, is there!

Very best of luck...........

You may be having a Parkinsons reaction to the medication. I suggest you contact the doctors office and insist on an appointment sooner. Are you also seeing a counselor?

I am not sure what to do in the meantime. You need to see a neurologist to see the cause of this. You don't tell enough about it to say what is going on. (intention tremor, non-intention tremor, speed of the tremor, movements made etc.)

Call your HMO and get your appointment sooner! Shaking uncontrollably is obviouslly not normal, and who knows if you actually have a heart or nervous problem that can make one of your major organs malfunction. (If you have a PPO, then call a new doctor, immediately!)

Well, I would explain to the nurse, its UN-controllable. That means emergency. Its serious dear. That doctor needs to alter your meds.

Best wishes, your in my thoughts.

maybe you should get off the meds and try something holistic....see a doctor. actually, see more than one to get a second opinion.
