How Do You Tell Your Cousin...?
How do you tell your cousin that she is less than pleasent company. She invites herself places with me and my friends, and she's a little pushy and insecure. She can't really take critisism (spell check isn't working), and she gets offended easy. But she invites herself places, and she's too much of a handful for me to enjoy myself. We are grown women, I'm 22 and she is 23, but I feel like such a child always lying about where I'm going so she won't try to tag along. HELP!!

oh my gosh, your cousin is 23 and she acts like that? what is the rest of your family like!? Ok, so if i had someone hanging around me whom i didn't like, id tell them to bug off. but since she is family, you can't exactly do that. if she is insecure and is offended easily, you might as well tell her the truth so she can get over all that. she is 23 for crying out loud! she's acting like such a spoiled rotten child. i can understand why she would want to hang with you and your friends (does she have any of her own?), but that is no excuse for her to rudely invite herself along with you. you need to be honest with her or else she won't ever grow up. Good luck!

Just tell her. You don't have to do it rudely. Just tell her that, when she goes out with you and your friends, she spoils every ones fun by being pushy and insecure. many times people do certain things without even realizing that they're actually doing it. Bring it to her attention, you may be surprised of the change this may bring.

make one day out of a week just for her and spend the whole day together. it doesn't have to be once a week it can be like, once every few weeks or something, just dedicated to her. Then you can at least have the rest of the days to yourself. If you try this plan, make sure you let her know and call her a couple days before and set up the time for your day, so then she wont have a reason to call.

Politely ask her if she has any friends of her own, and if you could maybe meet some of them. If they really sound like great friends for her, you could tell her to meet up with them more often.

Just tell her! Its not going to be easy no matter which way you try to say it. Tell her the truth. The longer you put if off it will be harder to get rid of her.

I know you dont want to hurt her feelings, and that is very considerate of you. Unfortunatly you are going to have to at some point. It will never end until you do.
