No way! Latin won't help you a bit! I'm Romanian and the Latin classes in the 9th grade were pure torture (well, that's also probably because I had a nasty teacher...).

Anyway, there are a lot of methods of learning foreign languages - the problem with Romanian is that there aren't that many good books that may help you. The only piece of advice I can give you is watch International Romanian TV Channels - they sometimes subtitle their programmes in English - you won't understand much, but at least you'll get an idea of how Romanian sounds (look for PRO TV International and TVR International).

You might take a look at these websites too:

and here's a yahoo group: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Learn-Romanian-Online/

Why do you wanna learn Romanian? Fell in love with a Romanian girl and wanna impress her? LOL. There are some basic conversational words on BBC site (Languages). Latin is no use, it's difficult, even for a Romanian person and it has no appliance in nowadays language. That's why Latin is called "dead language". There are some books called "Learning Romanian as foreign language", but I'm not sure you can get those in your country. Otherwise you can contact BBC, they might have books about everything on sale. You need audio files, too, cause pronunciation is not that easy. Grammar is pretty difficult, too. There are plenty of people in my country who learned Romanian, but even if they have spoken it for the last 5 years, they still can not use the verbs correctly. It's funny hearing them, but the main thing is to let it go, people will understand what you mean to say anyway.

...the easiest way to learn several languages is to learn them when you're young.

As far as Romanian, Latin is no more useful than French, Spanish, Portuguese, or Italian. They're all Romance languages.

Just learn Romanian (audio tapes, textbooks, etc.) Romanian is not more similar with any other Romance language than English is, say, with Dutch.
