Ok, I got accused of being a liar in my last question, so I thought I would redeem myself and tell another true story...

A couple months ago I was watching the local news after tornados had ripped through our state.

A gentleman was telling a story about his misfortune with a smile on his face, giving glory to God, while the news reporter was completely mesmerized...

He told of how 2 days prior to the tornado his wife had died at the age of 42 from heart disease, and how his church had graciously taken up an offering to pay for the expenses.

However, when the tornado hit the money flew away, he was lifted out of his house and set down across the street completely unharmed, and his house was nothing but rubble. Of course, the camera pans the scene to show the disaster.

He never once broke his smile as he proceeded to repeat that God is good and his faith is just being tested.

My question is, how do you feel when you hear this story? Do you think it brings glory to God?

Why is it that when good things happen it is "God" but when bad things happen it is "Satan"? According to the book of Hebrews faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. People believe in what feels right for them. Organized religion is nothing more than a control mechanism to keep people in line. Fear of death is nothing new and the fear of the afterlife goes hand in hand. I believe in God I believe in myself I do not believe in the hypocracy of religion. Those who believe in the Bible as direct word from God are deceiving themselves. I wouldn't stone my son for disobediance. I wear make-up and jewelry and pants, all things that are forbidden by scripture. I am no ones property but my own. The books in the Bible were written by men to keep men in control. I believe in doing unto others as you would have them do unto you. I believe in using my brain and my heart to decide what is right and wrong. We all know the big ones-don't kill, steal, lie, etc. People just get to wrapped up in the small stuff. Narrow is the gate into heaven-I believe it is narrow because we each must find the way for ourselves, instead of riding the coat tails of someone elses Biblical interpretation. God's glory is all around us, in every sunrise, in each breath we take. And yes in every good and bad thing that happens to us. It isn't about what happens to us, it is about how we react to what happens. Do we blame someone or accept that life happens and move on?

Yes, I believe that it does. BECAUSE--

The man came out of this unharmed. He might have lost everything he loved and owned but he still has his life. I am not saying that God is testing this man BUT look how many times Job was tested by God. Look what happen to him..

I am a firm believer in God, the Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.

Considering that God could undo the tornado before it struck, and cured his wife as well, I am unsure how you see this glorifies God.

What of those the tornado killed? Not enough faith?

Absolutely, such brings forth God's manifold witness. Yes, God saves and God takes home, yet it is still God's will. He has perfect wisdom and knows exactly what He is doing at any given moment, God is never suprised He is never early and He is never late!

Well-I do not think G-d works on such a one to one way. But, I am glad that man had something to hold on to. Just because I do not agree with him---it seems to work for him.
