I suspect your question is not really anatomical, but behavioral. I have only really dealt with fixed cats, and once done, little difference between males and females. Physically, males tend to be larger but that does not necessarily make them alpha. Socially, not really any differences. Socially, it all depends on how the pecking order evolves in a multi cat home, and if alone, how they were socialized. A cats personality is formed in the first months it is with its mother, and the experiences it received. So a positive one, and the cat will be friendly regardless of its gender. I have multiple cats, all female, and it is harmonious. So stories that all female cats are a nightmare is not my experience. I grew up with having male cats. Intact males tend to be aggressive and really not too pleasant to be around. Unspayed females tend to be extremely difficult to be around when they are in heat. There are some generalities that one can make between females though, even if they are spayed. Torties (tortoiseshell cats) often are quite vocal and some say calico cats are high strung. A vivid calico (intense colors, no blending) tends to be very owner loyal. And red boys (orange) cats are often considered by their owners as special. Orange cats are about 4:1male.

Both male and female kittens have two openings in the anal area. They are closer together in the female. The one closest to the tail in both sexes is the anus. In a female, the vulva is a vertical slit almost joined to the anus like an upside down exclamation mark. In a male, the tip of the penis is hidden in a small round opening about 1/2 inch below the anus. Testicles in a male kitten usually become obvious when the kitten is about 6 weeks old and clearly visible in an adult male who is not neutered.

Female cats are more likely to wander away from home and want to roam around. Male cats like to stick to their territory and enjoy being home a little more. When cats are spayed and neutered, they mellow out a little, but still can squabble over territories and mark things [male and female both]

How old is your cat? If its 3 months or so old, if its male you should be able to see testicles. Its diificult sometimes to tell without having two cats to compare if there really young or not used to checking. females have a shorter distance being there anus and vagina. males have a place for there testicles.

If its male, you'll see its testicals in the back after a few months.

If you look under the tail and it looks like an upside down exclamation point, it's a girl. If it doesn't, it's a boy.
