You can do it the same day if you go to a professional. I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself. You could turn your hair pink if you do it wrong.

Oh man, I did this a few weeks ago (actually a "friend" did it for me) and it sucked! First, I had to strip the red from my hair; my friend left it on too long and little did I know, but it started burning my scalp; After rinsing it, she put the dye on and after just a few minutes my head was on fire; she assured me that I was just being a baby; when she finally rinsed the color out, I had huge strawberry shaped burns all over my head and the dye only took on some of my hair; I had to wait 2 weeks to wash it and for the scabs to heal (and pick them gently off); I look like a trailer trash whore with whitish/blond hair; I recommend doing it professionally; the cost will be worth not having the pain!

In salons they do it one after another. You lighten the hair to how light you want it once you wash out the bleach and completely dry your hair, then apply the red. The problem with that is red is a hard colour to keep in even without bleaching. once you bleach you open the cuticle of the hair and the reds come out alot faster. try not to bleach any longer than you have to. Use a red colour shampoo after to maintain the red colour, it will bleed in the water when you wash your hair so you need some help to keep it.

Bleaching your hair is something that can be hazardous. I would suggest having a hair dresser do it the first time, and then ask him/her for tips on maintaining your look. It might be better to shell out $40 than to mess up your hair or inhale a lot of hair dye and bleach...yes, they can make you kind of woozy.

The thing you need to know about red hair dye is that is has an ash(green) base. If you put an ash base hair color onto a bleached head, you will wind up with green hair.

there is not any such element as "white bleach" only bleach. this is in reality no longer bleach in any respect yet peroxide. the assumption is that it will strip all the colour out of your hair yet with black hair what you will maximum probable finally end up with is a hideous orange. in case you extremely need to lighten your black hair, flow to a professional - have faith me!

You can do it right away. You got the right ideal on how to go from dark to light. Bleach it out all over, then deposit the red.
