An automated library system can provide the means to purchase and provide various library services such as journals, books, data base services, circulation, interlibrary loan, cataloging and processing in faster and more efficiently.

Technology has not eliminated but rather enhanced the traditional book (i.e. paper) collections of most libraries. Special subscription Internet collections and data base searching have expanded access to information for staff and library users.

Smart libraries have added automation/technology services as a means of improving services to library patrons with benefits to both their library staff and the community they serve.

My best to you

That is a big issue.
Due to advanced tech, as u said, there's automated systems and info can obtained more easily and stored in computers rather than keep historic books.. I would say these services have become more effective and efficient.
