Oh goodness, God bless you for taking care of it. Anyway, it sounds like he/she might have worms, are these parasites crawling around his tail like coming out of its butt? are they like white and when they dry they look like rice? if so they are tape worms, if the kitten has fleas it is definitely tape worms, i wouldn't doubt it that your kitten has fleas, cats get worms because they have swallowed a flea and the only way you can get rid of them is from the medicine at the vet, which does not cost more that 5 bucks! Now, if they are maggots do you see them actually eating its tail? do you see any blood or any nasty stuff like puss in its tail? if not it is more likely to be just tape worms. If it happened to be maggots I would try to clean the area and apply some peroxide to the wound, clean it really good and that should take care of the problem.

Give the cat to the humane Society. I did that once. Now that cat is taken care of. I even adopted from them. You could keep it but you should take it to the vet to get spayed/neutered and have a check-up. Make sure the cat is healthy before you think about adopting it. Good Luck!!!! ;D

Most cities have veternary clinics that will help people that have animals that dont' have much money to spare. YOu can look up under local websites or call a local vet in your area and they will direct you to a non-for profit animal clinic that specifically helps people with this needs. You can also call your village/town center they shoudl be able to give you some informatino.
Good luck!

Poor kitten, maybe you can take it to the humane society and explain to them that you found it and you don't have the money to take care of it and i'm sure they will help the poor little guy. Good luck

The kitten must have a sore where the maggots are eating. The only thing the maggots eat is necrotic tissue or dead tissue.Clean the area with betadine.Clean it after that with peroxide.Apply triple antibiotic creme last.Keep her from digging or biting at it.If its a large wound see your vet.

I found an abandoned kitten this summer and I called around and one of my local vets saw it for free. He was so nice. Just call around and ask another vet or ask a vet for recommendations.

I agree with LADYPET the maggots are eating the dead flesh and cleaning the kitty's wound. Take it to the humane society and they will find a place for the kitty.

DON"T TAKE IT TO THE HUMANE SOCIETY!!!
Look for a NO KILL SHELTER. I was at the HS and a lady brought in a litter of kittens she found on the street and they told her that if she left them they would be euthenized by the end of the day.

take him to the vet and say you found him outside they will not charge you i've done this before with rabbits and other cats that my cat has attacked. at this point the cat may still be able to be treated if you leave it for a while they will get inside of the cat and eat it from the inside out.

Are the maggots small and white, sorta like rice? If so, they're probably tape worms. They're pretty much harmless and you can buy wormers that will take care of them. If it's going to be staying outside, you'll definitely need to have it vaccinated, though.
