I thank all of you who took time out to answer my question ...I asked this question because a friend and I were discussing this very type of situation on the phone today ..and I simply wanted to know the experiences and thoughts of others who have maybe went through something similar...as I did 3 and a half years ago ...even as a devout person who loves God very much ..at that time I saw no light at the end ....I had just given birth to my daughter ...she was only days old when I went through these extreem feelings..but after my attempt I appreciate everything so much more ...the good and the bad ...because they both go hand in hand...their can't be one without the other ...so you just deal with it the best way you can and include God in all aspects of your life ....I thank you all once again for sharing with me.

I have tried on two occasions. Once via an overdose of muscle relaxers, l took about 30 pills in one weekend. It just dazed me out and l sleep most of the time... didn't even hear my mob ring. and then lately l've been cutting my wrist and arm. Firstly little gashes the deeper and deeper cuts where l bleed more. I went to doc as l was doing this , they would tend to my cuts and l would be back there every other day with more fresh wounds to be tended to. I haven't had the guts to completely cut my wrists as yet, l'm just testing out the waters as they say. I still feel the same, l think about suicide most times, maybe just jump off the closest bridge would do the trick , but then l have the notion if it doesn't work they would lock me up. So l do other little things to kill the craving l have. You cannot appreciate all you have when you have nothing to start off with. When your life is at a dead end and everything goes wrong you think , what's the point. End it and be done with it. No one cares, and all you'll be is another statistic. So l suggest to anyone thinking about it, is it worth it in the end?

Yes, I have.
No, I don't feel any greater appreciation for life.
You will learn that things rarely or never actually get any better. The type of 'bad' just changes.
I'm sure many will consider that pessimistic, but I'm being 100% honest.
Certainly don't trust the people here who say 'I haven't, but this person I know did and now they love life!' because they don't know whether that person really loves life or if they're just faking it so as not to hurt the people around them.

No but my sister did a few times. I was the one who saved her from killing herself. I think she has a better outlook on life and how wonderful it could be now, but she also realizes that life comes with obstacles and setbacks, and you can't just give up when something bad happens to you or when things aren't going your way. Oh, and the same thing for one of my best friends, she was living with me and my daughter and I found her in my basement trying to hang herself with an extension cord. She's doing fine now too.
Hope this at least helped you out.

My younger brother shot himself in the mouth. The bullet missed the brain stem by 1/8". He recovered, married and lived a happy life. Every day he's grateful he didn't succeed.

Trust me on this.....the risk FAR outwieghs the 'possible' upside. It's one hell of a bad way to gain more appreciation for living.
