To try and make everyone think their religion is something that it's not; loving and accepting. I'm not sure why but it bugs the hell out of me, they've done it so much more often since 9/11.

America is our country, not a god. We're asking the Lord to bless our country - just as we ask Him to bless someone who sneezes. Where is the fault in that? God does exist - the one and only God. The Bible is the Word of God. The freedom of religion gives us the opportunity to worship Him any way we wish. Freedom of speech allows to say what we wish. True Christians know the teachings of Jesus and the Word of the Lord, so they follow His teachings and obey His laws. They are able to spread His Word with the freedom of speech and freedom of religion.

You came to a false conclusion because you made a false assumption.........
Israels law does in fact give us a good model for a justice system(the universal law found in it) but note that it was only the JEWS that were not to have other gods. Notice that when God became angry at the nations around them, he was angry with their actions, not necessarily the fact that they had other gods. God fully expected such behavior from gentiles who had not been given the truth.
God in fact became angry with ISRAEL ONLY because they would take on other gods when they were supposed to be a holy nation set apart by God. Therefore granting freedom of religion is taking a page out of Gods very own playbook for he allows us all to choose him or deny him. The US is not ancient Israel.
When we say God Bless America, that can mean a lot of things. I always think of it as "God help America."

P.S God bless America, we need all the help we can get!

Yes, I agree that some Christians mix patriotism and Christanity to a non logical personal fervor.
However I believe that New Testament talks about the Golden Rule, and respect for both your friends and enemies. Democracy allows respects by give each citizen a voice in the government..

Please do a "Add to" to this question and let us know what your religion or lack of is. It's makes a big difference to trying to answer your question. If you don't understand or not a US citizen you would never understand. You are misquoting for your own use --- like some pastors I've met.
Americans have gone through so much in our history and God has been with us the entire journey that anyone who asks will never grasp why we say:
"GOD BLESS AMERICA"
PS...God does Rule!

The LORD calls America His America. Because He will not turn away from a president who prays to Him. Even if the divisiveness of some divide America is a stink in His nose, but not from His people & the prayers of His people. He hears the prayers of the soldier dying praying for the children in America.
I believe the constitution & amendments are inspired by God. And yes, I pray God bless America. He is blessing America. And he is shining His light for America and exposing enemies.
God loves us.

The Bible actually is all for freedom of speech and religion....God has given us a life and gave us the freedom to say what we want and do what we want. We can choose life with the one who created us; or eventually die becuase we choose to cut off the connection with our creator and try to live on our own. The Bible is the handbook for those who want to follow God's ways and laws, you don't have to follow it, but some really want to, like me.

It's very simple. Christians say, "God bless America" because they love America. It's like saying, "God bless mom and dad", or "God bless my little brother". If you love a person or if you love your country (and you are a Christian), the most natural thing in the world is to ask God to bless it.
As to your drawing the conclusion that God hates us because of free speech, etc......well, it's just a lot of babble, as far as I'm concerned.

When put it to a focus group "Buddha Bless America" ran a close second to "It's Finger Lickin Good". Allah Bless America just sounded stupid so we stuck with the original God Bless America. We may qualify it further in the future.
Seriously, the only direct reference the Bible makes on governments is to "obey the laws of the land" meaning governing ourselves is up to us.

I dont believe in God as such, but have no problem with anybody
wanting to bless our country. Its just a figure of speech of wishing well upon ourselves. I enjoy Christmas when I am
around little kids, but dont believe in Santa Claus either.
