Hi there...it is quite common for cats to want to try human foods, however it isn't suggested as many of the ingredients used in different types of foods for human consumption can be toxic to our pets. Cats unfortunately do not know what is good for them and therefore become ill if we don't intervene on their behalf. Ingredient's like salt, garlic, onions are some things for example that are used in processed foods, gravy sauces, many foods in general. Tuna, tomatoes and so many other foods are also very toxic to our kitties. Here's a sample of the items:
Tomatoes, Green (raw Potatoes), eggplant are members of the Solanaceae family of plants, which includes the Deadly Nightshade, and contain a bitter, poisonous alkaloid called Glycoalkaloid Solanine, which can cause violent lower gastrointestinal symptoms.
Onions contain a substance (N-propyl disulphide) which destroys red blood cells in the cat, causing a form of anemia called Heinz body anemia. Garlic contains a similar substance in a lesser amount.
Chocolate is very toxic to both cats and dogs. Theobromine is the offending substance here.
To learn more I've included a couple links below to help you understand how it's best to avoid human foods as they lack the nutritional needs that felines require and get from their own food.
If you want to give your kitty treats, please consider some healthy boiled de-boned chicken (no need to add anything...just water) or special treats made for cats from your pet store.

maximum persons do not comprehend this yet cats are quite carnivore(Meat basically eaters). the basically different aspect they devour is often some grass to settle their stomaches(regularly for feral cats). so that they'll each from time to time devour scraps no matter if that is meat. yet different meals they haven't any pastime in. canines on the different hand are categorised as Omnivores. As you theory about maximum domicile canines will devour something. because that they are not carnivores they're more desirable in all probability to attempt diverse issues and devour diverse meals. it quite is why. through the way canines are shown as omnivores. They did learn an each little thing. they need more desirable rice and grains to stay healthful at the same time as cats are effective with basically meat. canines can live to inform the tale on both meat or plant diets(is basically plant nutrition routine they might change right into slightly weak even with the undeniable fact that) how ever cats can basically live to inform the tale on meat diets. in the journey that they did no longer have meat they could slowly die.realized this in vet tech college desire I helped Michelle

My kittens used to like to sample all my food and they soon decided they liked their food better.
Cats should never have foods with onion in it, and I don't let mine have garlic either (some people use it because they feel it helps regulate fleas). Tomato and eggplant are not very good either. They are in the plant "nightshade" family as is the onion.
I think it's fun to share little tidbits with your cat. Just don't overdo it.

Whats normal these days? I would allow the cat to eat what you are eating, what a compliment to you and your cooking, but I would not fed it the junk food, the odd crisp is ok, mine eat them as well, but are predominately fed on organic foods. If the cat is not fat or getting sick etc.. carry on.... all the best.

Some cats do eat people food, but it really isn't all that good for them! However, on the farm I have seen them eat berries, birds, mice and bugs, could popcorn be worse? I don't like to feed indoor cats human food because it makes their litter box really stink!

Is there anything normal about cats??? I have 3 and they are like your cat, eats what I'm having. (watermelon is a favorite) You are your cats "littermate" and when they eat human food, I think it's their way of being part of the litter. I don't think it'll cause much harm as long as that's not their steady diet.

Sounds to me as if your cat is perfectly healthy, but have you ever had you cat taken to a vet to be wormed professionally just to be safe? My cat drives me totally crazy if I do not let her drink the milk that is left over from my cereal or if I have meat then she wants to have her sample. She has never had worms in her entire 5 years of life.
