Does it have to be reliable, low maintenence, good gas mileage, good resell values and good looking ? And brand new ? fully loaded ? Roomy ?

I will say something Toyota or Honda. Or even possibly Nissan and Hyundai. Don't laugh yet. Hyundai has come a long way. They have improved the reliability for the past few years. It is comparable to Japanese cars. I have heard bad things about mazda regarding problems.

I've heard people say that Japanese cars are expensive to repair. That may be - but I've driven Toyotas, Hondas and Subarus for years and never had to do a repair. They build cars to last!
Too bad the Toyota Prius isn't sporty enough for you. I adore mine, and what can you say to 50-60 mpg? With gas prices tipping over into $3/gallon, that's gotta be one of the smartest choices.

Suggestions: Ford Fusion, Ford five-Hundred, Ford Crown Victoria, Mercury Milan, Mercury Montego, Mazda 3, Mazda 6, Volvo S40.
All are very reliable.

I evaluated a new VW Rabbit this morning. It is an amazing car. The chassis dynamics are unbelievable (in this price class). I don't know how sporty you'd find it, but wow, what a car.

Pending on where you live, I would go Suby Suby Doo
Subaru WRX (230 horsies, 230 lbs of torque, 4 wheel drive)
Not high on the "ricer" radar for theft like a Honda.
Again, pending on where you live. You might be able to find a WRX for ~ $23k out the door.

well the rx 8 is nice and has some power for about 24000 depends on what ur looking for is it a fam vehicle or ? not to into hondas i do like nissan and toy just don't buy that dang electric car of toyotas i hate my aunts

Get a truck, they can be sporty and have four doors and you can carry anything. Ford f-150.
