I'm 32 years old. I had runner's knee real bad about 5 years ago, and it healed up because I quit jogging. I started jogging again just recently, and only after 2 weeks of it, the knees hurt. I can only run half a mile and I feel sharp pains under my knee caps. I really want to jog, it is good for my weight control. Btw, I'm only 15lbs overweight. What can I do to be able to jog still without my knees hurting?

I started taking a glucosamine diet supplement recently that seems to work pretty well for joints.
You might want to try an eliptic trak for a while, too, while your knee heals. Less stress on joints.

Remember that you can get the very same results by walking fast, as you can by running. Your injuries with your knees are very common with runners, the pounding and impact on them is pretty intense.
I would suggest that you wrap both of your knees with ace bandages, you can get them at walymart. Sleep in them for about a week, and your knees will feel much better. Start for a week by walking fast, try it without the impact. You'll see that the walking is just as good for your weight loss. Try walking for a week before running again. You might have to try walk/run intervals for awhile to see if your knees can handle it. Do wear the wraps and only walk for a week tho so they can heal, or they'll get worse. Hope this helps some......

Well. I'm a runner too. And Sometimes when I run, My knees and ankles hurt bad. So....the only pointers I can give you are: 1. Dont run on concrete or treadmills.Try to run in grass or packed dirt. When you run against things like concrete, gravity pushes force back against your body everytime your foot hits the ground,. When you run in sand, dirt, or grass, gravity retracts and allows your energy to press into the ground without any force pushing back. It's much better on your knees. 2.Make sure you have a good pair of running shoes. Bad shoes could hurt too. No flat shoes. And drink alot of water.

How about those elliptical jogging machines in the gym? No impact and a pretty good workout.
