i have been looking for a puppy and searched shelters and online and have my heart set on a yorkie.. if anyone knows of anyone willing to part with a female puppy let me know... MUST BE IN NORTH CAROLINA can't imagine shipping a puppy... it's aweful to think about...

You are not likely to find one. Small young dogs are usually adopted quickly. I encourage you to think of the characteristic of the yorkie personality that appeals to you, then find that characteristic in a larger dog or breed of dog that frequently need homes.

Protectiveness and high energy levels = doberman & rottwielers

Being "baby-like and emotional" = greyhound & whippets

and so on ... if size really is an issue, consider a cat instead.

I agree about the shipping issue.

I know you said you tried looking online, but have you looked at www.petfinder.org?
