I believe that the person who commits murder is aware of the potential for being sentenced to death themselves, if ever caught. Therefore, in some way shape or form, they had a death wish themselves. That being stated, if they simply had a death wish, why didn't they just off themselves? Why take another life along with them?? THAT is why I believe in the sentencing of death as a penalty.

Well, that's the main reason I am sort of against capital punishment. Surveys show that 1 out of 7 people are wrongfully convicted..but other than that, cases like Scott Peterson, where the guilty person is obvious, I support the death penalty...

I would still know that the death penalty is a deterrent in some cases and I would still be for the death penalty if it would take pedophiles, rapists, child pornographers, and such off the street and off the taxpayers' backs for years. It's a fact that humans do convict innocent persons sometimes and that's awful. However, even that doesn't stop me from believing in the death penalty.

good question - would pro-war people be pro-war if they (or their kids) were being sent over to fight?
but basically all you're saying is that people are more OK with OTHER people being mistreated than they, themselves being mistreated...which is just another way to say that people are kind of messed up.
And even if I'm SUPER PRO DEATH PENALTY before being wrongly convicted and then SUPER ANTI DEATH PENALTY after being wrongly convicted, it tells me more about my own character than telling me anything objective about whether the death penalty is right or wrong.
And further, a punishment should never be applied unjustly. If my kid DIDN'T spray paint the tv while I was out, then she shouldn't get a spanking, right? But just proving something is unjust when it is unjustly applied, really doesn't prove anything either...hmmm...still a good question for people to ponder...

yes yes yes and yes.
Heres the problem: If you base your justice system on the testimony of people the way we are supposed to, then the only way you get falsely convicted is from the false testimony of men. How many times in the OT did God say he HATES FALSE TESTIMONY. Not only because it was merely lying but it sent people to death for crimes they didnt committ. But God did not prevent it nor did it go unnoticed.

But dont assume that this life is the only life to live. Be worried about doing good and following Jesus in this life and you'll have reward waiting for you. Follow all the laws, pay your taxes, live a nice long life. But deny God, and you'll have nothing to look forward to.

God showed us the best legal system there is and what do liberals want to do? They want to show mercy to murderers abnd take away the death penalty yet give approval to women killing their unborn babies in abortions. Big fat hypocrites! (another thing God despises)

Would you be still be "pro-lifelong sentance" if you were wrongfully convicted of a horrible murder and sentanced to life in prison? Would you still be pro-life-term sentancing after 50 years hard labor in the pen? Would you die in a cell after 50 years thinking that lifelong imprisonment is a good idea???

Maybe we just let everybody do whatever they please and accept whatever punishment they want. What would you suggest we do with murderers? How would you feel if you're sister or mother or father or daughter was murdered???

the thing with the death penalty is that we are all going to die sometime, and if i am wrongfully put on the death sentance then it is natures choice that i should die.

The thing with life imprisonment is that it isnt really punishment. You still get to live, when perhaps you murdered someone and they dont get to live.

And eye for an eye, and a life for a life.

Yes, I would "still" be pro-death penalty. The death penalty works when the greedy lawyers get out of the way and allow the Justice system to work. Besides there has not been one documented case of an individual being wrongfully executed for a crime they didn't commit.

I have no idea. At this very moment I have mixed feelings aobut the death penalty. Sometimes I think 'yes we should put violent criminals to death' but then sometimes I think, 'well isn't that God's place' and at other times I think 'As a society we have to do something to curb crime'
So I'm not sure how I feel regardles of whether or not it was me that did the wrong or percieved wrong.

Capital punishment is not the problem, the court system is. The rich get off while the poor get blamed. If we investigate all the cases as we do those of the rich then the right people would be put to death for the right crimes.
