If your bf and his friend have been aquainted with one another longer than you have been dating, then accept the fact that it is probably true. From there make it a point that you would like to get to know your bf as well as his friend does. Men don't easily open up to women but thats not to say that they won't. You have to show him how important it is to you to be in tune with who he is as an individual and don't allow this attitude from your bf to deter you and don't allow it to become an issue that brings about negativity. Communication is the KEY ingredient to a good relationship. I've been happily married for the last 16 years and I, we owe it all to having the ability to talk to one another on every level and about anything that may arise. Jody

Just accept the fact, and that it's nothing against you. He's probably known his best friend for years, and done lots of things together. With him he can be more open about his feelings, knowing they will be respected.
You didn't say how long you two have been dating, but once you two get to know each other better, he'll probably change, and accept the fact that you might know him better.
That's going to take some time though.

I don't think you should worry about it, unless he can't talk to you about anything. Sometimes, there are certain things that a guy needs his best bud around to talk to about. I would never talk to my boyfriend about certain things, at least not as many details as I would give a good girl friend. You probably shouldn't take it too personally. Guys need their friends....even if it's a girl friend he has had around for a long time.

It's possible that you might both be poor communicators. There are plenty of books on improving your interpersonal communication skills.

Realize, though, that men and women are fundamentally different creatures. Our social skills differ because both of our social climates do. We tend to view, feel, and prioritize things differently, which can cause us to trivialize eachother's opinions or thoughts. WE need to learn empathy and compassion...to see things through the other's eyes, to understand them better.
