I get pregnant dogs in that are loaded with fleas constantly! I give mom a Capstar...it kills all of the fleas on her within hours. I then give the puppies a bath (making sure to keep them warm) in a mild solution of dawn dishsoap and warm water but ONLY if the pups are infested and NEED to be de-flead. Usually taking care of mom early on keeps the pups from getting infested but IF they do, the dawn dishsoap kills the fleas and keeps the pups flea free at least temporarily until something stronger and more effective can be used on them later when they are older.

I agree with everyone else that flea collars should not be anywhere around young puppies and that the mama needs to be treated as well as the bedding. Are the mama and babies inside or out? because the area around their bed is probably infested.
I put powdered garlic on my dogs food and have not had a problem with fleas. I have been doing this for about 30 years and it has kept all 4 dogs that have shared my life during that time free of fleas. I asked the vet about it and she said it was an old wives tale but for me it seems to work so I will cont. to do it. By the way my daughter and daughter-in-law also do this with their dogs and they also have no problem with fleas. This may help and shouldn't hurt the pups.

NO! You should not put flea collars anywhere near pups until they are at least 6 weeks old, this goes for flea shampoo and also for dip. You can check with your vet or any vet but I believe I'm correct in saying that you can treat the mom with frontline and that will keep them away from the babies too. Also you can wash the babies in dish soap (dawn works best) and that will suffocate the flea and is still safe for the pups, stay clear of the eye area but do their head first. Hope this helps.

They are far too young. Any issues like fleas that pups that young have, came from the mother, so you should treat the source of the problem. Talk to your vet about treatments you can give to the mother dog.

It won't do any good. Pick the fleas off with a cotton ball with alcohol on it. Or use a flea comb. When they are six weeks you can apply advantage. You need to kill them off the mother dog. Use adams shampoo and let it sit for about ten minutes before rinsing. You can't use anything else on her right now. flea collars only work if the flea trips and breaks it's neck. Seriously.

When our dog had puppies a year ago, the vet had a spray that we got for the fleas. They also sell a similar spray at walmart. Just check the label and see what it says

Flea collars are TOXIC. I would never use them. Call a vets I believe they have advantage or advantix for puppies.
ONLY use something for PUPPIES.
