Ancestry.com has 1 census match and 9 Birth/Death matches to the Komonich name. See the first web site. But they charge a monthly fee to belong/use their resources, with a 14day free trial option (I think you have to give them some ancestors or something like that).
Also a site on Nadia. She is Romanian, sorry not much help.

It is Romanian for sure. The last "i" is silent when it's pronounced (makes it feminine version of the name...like Kowalska v Kowalski). Also, the original spelling would not have had the "h" in it, as that's an Americanization to get the right pronunciation of the slurred "c".

Maybe Romania because if I remember correctly there was a gymnast Nadia from there
