That's pretty unbelievable. I've never heard of that, and I've worked for an insurance company for a long, long time. Her auto insurance would not cover this, and neither will her homeowners. It would qualify probably as vandalism/malicious mischief and be paid under your comprehensive coverage if you carry it on your policy. You'd have to pay your deductible (maybe she'd offer to pay it!). It would not be considered an at fault loss for you and more than likely would not affect your rates.Sometimes, insurance companies will try to recover from the other person directly, so she can try to report it to her homeowners to see if they will do anything if that's an issue.
Tell me you're joking about this. What kind of car gets dented when the door is shut by someone's booty?

Here's the problem with that. You probably have an insurance deductible of $500 and it would probably cost you around $500 to have the repair done. Also, if you report this MINOR reprair to them, they will more then likely raise your insurance rates as a result. Your best bet is to get the person who made the dent to pay for it. It will save YOU money in the long run.

This is just a suggestion to try before doing the insurance thing. My husband drove our truck through a snow drift which dented both doors, we used a toilet plunger to suck the dent out, you couldn't even tell.
I don't know how big the dent is but it might be worth a try. Instead of paying your deductible, and then your insurance company will probably raise your rate.
Good luck

My old english sheep dog ran head on into the door of a friends truck. The dog was chasing a cat. The cat went under the truck and whamO. Big dent.
Home owners Ins. paid for it. You might want to try and claim it on the home ins some how. ?

before you contact your insurance, if the paint is not broken you could possibly get off cheaper by calling a paint less dent repair company. they can usually pop it back out without taking it into a shop lots of times they can do it in your driveway or parking lot at work

If you have collision then that will probably be $500 deductible. I can not imagine someone denting a car with their rump.

*maybe* her homeowners policy will cover it, if she has any. Her car insurance WON'T cover it. Your policy *might* cover it, LOL, I think it would be comprehensive as in "hit by an animal". But it will be subject to your comp deductible.

It should be covered under your comprehensive coverage, though there may be a deductible. Her insurance will NOT cover this.

Your coverage should cover it but they may want to pursue your sister-in-law for reimbursement. Keep in mind you will have to pay your deductible. Her auto ins will not cover it since her veh was not involved.
