Carlos Monzon at Middleweight, at Leonard's prime he was a welterweight and junior middleweight. Monzon's power to shine through. I feel Monzon was be a bit savvy to Leonard's tactics of winning the last 30 seconds of each round to attract the referee and judge's eye, which Leonard did to Hagler.

Most will tell you Leonard because they really didnt get to see a lot of Monzon. I think Hagler should have won the fight with Ray. Ray would throw little flurries at the end of each round which affected the judges..he stole several rounds this way. If you watch that fight with the sound muted..you will probably score it different. I thought Hagler won it convincingly. Monzon would have just been to strong for Ray. While I respect Ray as a great fighter..he was given a few decisions that he should have lost. Hearns floored him twice and beat him like a drum in one of their fights..yet it was scored a draw. Even Ray said Hearns should have won. I think Monzon would have been too strong..he was a natural middleweight..Ray was a welter. I think the fight would be sort of like Rays first fight with Duran. Ray would fight his heart out..but Monzon would have been too strong in my opinion.

Sugar Ray was way to fast, both with his hands and his legs, and he could also punch hard when he decided he needed to fight. Not much is known of Carlos Monzon, other than he held the record for most defenses of his middleweight title, and that he beat the great Jose "Mantequilla" Napoles, when "Mantequilla" went up in weight from walter to middleweight. Ray wins by decision after 15 rounds.
