It's a fresh install about 2 hours, been protected for virtually the whole time so I doubt it's malware. I've tried the normal method of deleting, the delete key. Then I tried using a program from Webroot that erases a file. Neither have worked. These are all files I've created and don't want to use any more. Also they are protected as read only and Windows XP won't let me change the permissions. Any help is appreciated a lot.

Are you an administrator on your computer with rights to erase in that directory?

If you right-click on the file, select properties -> security, can you change your access rights?

You should be able to delete, if you have the rights.and have deselected "read only" in the file properties
