Just because I make one or two typos, people are ready to burn me at the stake. Why is that? Why do they attack my typos and not the content of what I am writing. This is "yahoo answers" and not an English class.

If it really bothers you, then check your spelling. Right above where you post there is a "Check Spelling" icon. Click it and then you won't have to worry. If you need an answer to your question, take a little extra time so it can be read. Other than that, I think that some people feel the need to lash out because of a bad day, etc. So flaming someone online is pretty safe for them. They would probably never act that way to you in person.

i agree that typos should be overlooked ...if it is a true typo not a deliberate misspelling. Some people are too lazy to spell things correctly and that is annoying. You may be getting the backlash because SO many people on here intentionally misspell things so unfortunately anyone who has a legitimate typo tends to get yelled at too. Double edged sword.

What does it do to whine about it?
That's life. If you want to be taken seriously, you have to make no mistakes. Seriously, that's just the way it is...I didn't make the rules.
Same about speach. It is hard to be taken seriously when you don't use proper english.

So, my friend, my suggestion to you is..use your spell check, re-read it to yourself before you send it. If you don't know how to spell it...use a different word.

The reason there is a "preview" button on the answers is so that you can proofread them and catch some of your errors.

But "Psychology Today" magazine says that 2% of everything everybody does, even after they think they've corrected all their errors, is still an error.

I know exactly what you mean. I have had people send me emails telling me to capitalize certain letters and to add a period instead of a question mark. They realize that I'm not going to be graded on my writing, all I want them to do is read what I have to say.

It's always a good practice to use spell check. I know that it's not fair, but people judge your intelligence by how you spell and how your sentences are constructed.
