how long after having wisdom teeth pulled can I eat normally? I have NO pain, but am worried about getting food stuck in the holes. Any experiences with this? I am HUNGRY and eating applesauce, mashed potatoes and pudding is NOT cutting it!

Yeah, no pain yet. I lucked out. They were all grown in all the way, and straight, thanks to the braces I had as a kid an my big mouth!! LOL. I was in and out of the drs office in 35 minutes. No pain, not even when the anesthetic wore off. But I am afraid of eating, dont want to cause pain since I lucked out this much so far!

Wow, there's someone else out there that had no pain too? lol Same here, the doctor gave me a bottle of pain pills to take home with me, but I never needed not even one. And I ate a cheeseburger on the same day of having them taken out (eaten the way described by Chino; above). But no, I never had any pain at all. Just be sure to either brush your teeth and/or swish around a mouthful of water to get any food deposits out from around the wound sites. I can't say for sure if you will have pain later on in a few days though; it differs from person to person. Even though I had no pain, my best friend was in agony for about a week when she had hers taken out. Chances are since you have no pain now, you probably won't later either then, but again I can't say.
Also to help keep the wounds clean, swish around warm salt water once in a while. It'll help heal them faster. =)

The best filling meal I had after having my wisdom teeth out was chili. The dry socket problem sounds awful. I did not have that. Mostly my jaw hurt since I have problems with it. Milkshakes are good too. I remember I went out to eat with some people and thought, oh no, what am I going to eat? But they had chili on the menu!

Be very careful you don't suck the clots out of the sockets. It's called "dry sockets". It is the most pain I have ever experienced in my life!!
Stick with pureed foods. Don't suck on a straw or brush your teeth very hard!
If you have a food processor or maybe a blender, you can puree just about anything. Like Mexican food? Puree an enchilada. Like medium rare steak, puree that. Like Chinese food, just do it! Don't look at it, just eat it. It tastes good and no pain! I wish you well! Watch those sockets!!!!

You can start to eat normal food 24 hours afterward as long as it is comfortable to you. JUst watch out not to eat anything to hot or to spicey, this can irritate it. be sure to swish out with salt water or regular water GENTLY after each meal to get out any food lingering. But rremember gently rinse, you dont want to disturb the blod clot forming or else you'll get dry sockett which is painfull.

You just have to do what you feel is right for you. Start with smaller things like soup and then maybe work your way up to burgers. Good luck!

Your dentist should have given it a injector and you can use that to splash out any food deposit in the holes.

A week is a good rule of thumb--trust me. if you loosen the blood clots in the holes--morphine won't deaden the pain--been there--done that.--
