i know he gives religion and the religious a hard time - but religions have killed many atheists, freethinkers, skeptics etc. surely religion should expect criticism for the way it makes people act?

Richard Dawkins is a brilliant scientist. I think he actually sees religion as being for weak minded people who aren't interested in the facts. Science is after all about facts substantiated using evidence. On the other hand religion is about myth and superstition.

My religious beliefs have taught me to love all mankind, to treat others with compassion, to accept all people, and to forgive. I haven't killed anyone. Richard Dawkins has the same freedom of speech that the rest of us in the USA enjoy. I am not his judge.
